Artist Statement
I practice the meaning of words in order to understand a sense of place: There-being, the translation of dasein.
Words obtain meaning through use. The more a word is used the more its meaning is understood. In this regard, to practice the meaning of words is to explore all the ways they can be used, and therefore explore the potential meanings of places.
My art examines how the words I use creates meaning of the places I experience. Using these words as objects they occupy the space of the places I experience, which in turn explores their potential meaning.
I am enthralled with the thought: Art is language.
